Not Too Young to Run
This may or may not surprise you but in Victoria, the majority of local councillors are males aged over 46 years old.
In fact, the number of councillors aged over 76 is increasing, whilst the number aged under 25 is decreasing. (Source: MAV Councillor Census). With Victorian Local Council Elections coming up this year, we committed to changing things. We ran education and skills based campaigns to encourage over 70 young people to run for local councils.
